DJI Zenmuse L3 LiDAR Payload

Flagship long-range LiDAR for the DJI M400. Zenmuse L3 combines a 1,535 nm Class 1 eye-safe laser, a high-precision IMU, and dual 100-megapixel Micro Four Thirds cameras in a tightly integrated, all-in-one payload. Capture ultra-thin point clouds at high altitude (recommended 300–500 m AGL) with up to 16 returns and adjustable point rates to match any terrain—from dense canopy to tall infrastructure.

Range & efficiency: Up to 950 m @ 10% reflectivity; cover large areas from higher AGL to reduce flights.

Detail & penetration: Smaller spot size (Ø 41 mm @ 120 m, 0.25×0.25 mrad) reveals wires, edges, and ground under vegetation.

Accuracy you can trust: Road-surface examples show 1–2 cm point thickness and vertical RMSE tests in the 3–8 cm range (altitude-dependent).

Dual 100 MP color: Produce high-res orthos and crisp colorized point clouds, even in low-texture scenes.

Ready fast: No IMU pre-heat; automatic in-route heading/pitch/roll calibration reduces downtime.

Longer effective range: Up to 950 m vs. L2’s shorter envelope; proven flights at ~830–900 m line-of-sight in mining tests.

Smaller footprint, more ground points: Better canopy penetration and wire detection.

More returns: Up to 16 at lower point rates for multi-layer scenes.

Dual 100 MP cameras: Larger FOV than the LiDAR for better colorization/orthos; selectable 100 MP or 25 MP capture.

Star-shaped scan mode: Adds penetration in urban canyons while maintaining accuracy.

Ingress & endurance: IP54 with –25 °C to +55 °C operating range; tested for vibration, heat/cold, and heavy rain.

3-axis gimbal freedom: Pitch –120° to +60°, yaw ±80°, roll –90° to +60° for facades/obliques.

Compatibility: DJI M400 only. L3 requires the included M400 gimbal bracket (anti-drop rails). Not compatible with M300/M350 or with L2/P1 mounting.
